Up to now, we have talked about deciding to arrange a long weekend exchange. Most people, though want to get away for a week or two.
Arranged well enough in advance, people can book low cost flights; redeeming credit card miles or simply paying for economy fares.
People have exchanged with other couples to take advantage of low-cost cruise line dates. They may stay in the locality (like Fort Lauderdale, Houston, Cape Canaveral/Daytona area) for two weeks during an exchange, but four days of that stay may have been a short cruise to the Bahamas or Caribbean.
When considering an exchange, you always want to determine what your needs are, what you want to get from the exchange?
Are you simply wanting to just to get away? Or, do you have a specific event in mind?
You could be wanting to visit your grandkids for an extended period of time. Maybe there is a graduation to attend. It could mean exploring a part of the country you haven’t explored before or haven’t been to in many years.
It could be that you have a wedding to attend and you would like to stay around for a while to discover that part of the country either before the wedding, after or both.
Again, the length of exchange and the reason to exchange in a certain locality can vary, but the mindset remains the same; find a willing, flexible, adventurous exchange partner and make it happen.
You’ll be surprised how easy, enjoyable and fulfilling exchanging your home is. It will bring the concept of travel to a whole new level!
